On Edge (Collagraph of Brown Pelican)

I came up with this guy in response to a print exchange request. The guidelines are to print a limited edition of 14 prints on 5" x 7" paper. The intent is for us to use up scraps of paper . . . which I have an abundance of. One print will be in a traveling show, another will be sold (hopefully) and the remaining 12 will be distributed to other printmakers participating in the exchange. The show of prints will be traveling to New Zealand in March. I will probably work on a color version of this to come some time in the future. Resting Pelican #2 (Collagraph of Bird)

I created two larger versions of this pelican several years ago.

Due to their popularity I thought I would try to compose a smaller

version of this guy.  I did some experimenting with the background

and am still doing so.  This is how one of the first ones turned out.

My husband liked the plate as it was so I thought I would include

it in this post.
