Dragonfly #2 - Original Collagraph

I thought I would try creating another dragonfly.  I have experimented with other colors using tissue paper.  When I complete the print I'll put it up.  I think I like the other color variation better.
This collagraph measures 9.25" x 13"
Paper size is 12" x 15"
If you have any questions please email me.

University City Public Library

I have been trying to complete some new work for this show and have been experimenting with combining collage with my collagraph process. I decided to try working with collage and printmaking after hearing about a collage class my sister, Kathryn, attended this spring.  The dragonfly is an example of some crazy things that have happened with my latest work.  I hang the show tomorrow and still have some work to finish up.  Hope to see many of you at the opening on Friday, September 12.

Dragonfly 1 & 3 - Hand Pulled Collagraphs

I decided to modify the background of these dragonflies.
I thought the texture was a bit too much so it is now
subdued and the background color definitely makes
the dragonfly pop.

Dragonfly

I came across this dragonfly in my backyard a few weeks ago.  When I saw him I ran back into the house to get my camera.  To my delight he was still there when I returned.  I shot several shots, but think this was the best one.  I then decided to do a collagraph based on this guy and you can see below what transpired.

The Mysterious Dragonfly

The image size of  this collagraph measures 12.5" x 19".  This guy caused me some problems.  I originally wanted this to be a black and white image.  I liked the texture on the background but
knew it would cause me problems and it did.  It was just too much so I tried to tone the background back a bit which you can see below.  I was still not happy and decided to add color. That too was a challenge.  Anyway you can see the progression thus far.
