Tupie #2 - Welsh Corgie - Collagraph

This is the final dog collagraph in this grouping. My good friend Diane has had Tupie for many years now. She adopted her after Tupie was done with her days competing in shows. Quite some time ago Diane sent me some really great photos of this critter so when I started working on this project I knew this would be one of my challenges. As in the most recent dog portraits I created a lot of plates and printed many layers of color and texture to get to this point.  Who knows, this may change again, but this is where I will leave it for now.

Dragonfly #2 - Original Collagraph

I thought I would try creating another dragonfly.  I have experimented with other colors using tissue paper.  When I complete the print I'll put it up.  I think I like the other color variation better.

Dragonfly 1 & 3 - Hand Pulled Collagraphs

I decided to modify the background of these dragonflies.
I thought the texture was a bit too much so it is now
subdued and the background color definitely makes
the dragonfly pop.

Song Sparrow 1 (Collagraph of Bird)

I'm still experimenting with my process. I started out printing some

of the color.  Then I printed the black, followed by some hand coloring

and finally I printed a couple of layers of texture on the background.

Wacky Cat #1 - Hand-Pulled Collagraph

I recently found a recipe in "Cook's Country" called Wacky Cake.  

It is quite simple and surprisingly quite good.  

When I started working on this cat I thought the name 

Wacky Cat seemed appropriate.  

I am still experimenting with color variations.

Lookdown on Green #7 (Hand-Pulled Collagraph of Game Fish)

The lookdown is a game fish which is usually silvery on both sides. (I have obviously taken some liberty here in my color choices).   In the western Atlantic, the lookdown is found from Canada and Maine south to Uruguay, which includes Bermuda and the Gulf of Mexico.  They usually live in shallow water near the coast, along hard or sandy bottoms.  Below is the black and white before I added color

Wise Guy on Teal #4 (Collagraph of Owl)

Several years ago I did a print called "Wise Guys" which had three of these funny creatures staring at you. It was sort of a joke to give to my father whom seems to come up with a pun in just about every situation. It turned out that many people liked the wise guys so I thought I would do a smaller version featuring one of the group.
