Black-capped Chickadee on Orange #1 (original collagraph of bird)

If you are interested in more background information on this piece please read the information provided with the black and white version in the preceding post. Since I created a new plate for the black and white version I couldn't stop there.  I started with a yellow background and then created another plate to print an orange texture on top of the yellow. I found the orange to be a bit much so I created another plate and printed a yellow texture on top of the orange.

Dive Bomber #1 (Collagraph of Northern Mockingbird)

When I was in high school a Northern Mockingbird would dive bomb me while I was mowing the grass.  He or she would come so close to my head I thought I needed to do something to protect myself.  My solution was to wear a large sombrero.  I'm sure anyone passing by found me to be rather entertaining.

Resting Pelican #2 (Collagraph of Bird)

I created two larger versions of this pelican several years ago.

Due to their popularity I thought I would try to compose a smaller

version of this guy.  I did some experimenting with the background

and am still doing so.  This is how one of the first ones turned out.

My husband liked the plate as it was so I thought I would include

it in this post.

The Mysterious Dragonfly

The image size of  this collagraph measures 12.5" x 19".  This guy caused me some problems.  I originally wanted this to be a black and white image.  I liked the texture on the background but

knew it would cause me problems and it did.  It was just too much so I tried to tone the background back a bit which you can see below.  I was still not happy and decided to add color. That too was a challenge.  Anyway you can see the progression thus far.
