I have been working on this for a long time and finally finished this one a few days ago.  I chose to crop in on the bird so most of the print would be about texture.

Painted Bunting (Original Collagraph)

This is a male painted bunting.  Apparently the females are bright green.  These guys don't live in my part of the world and I don't think that I have ever seen one in person.  Love the vibrant color.

This is one of two commissions I recently completed for a client.  The two pieces were going to be a surprise for her husband.  I was told that he was very moved when he saw the collagraph versions of their buddies.  I just love the paws.

Scene at a Birdbath #1 & #2 (Abstract Collagraph)

Okay I have been a bit busy.  This summer I finished two collagraph versions of  Todd's black and white drawing done in 2011.  As in "Bird, Badger and Chameleon" I tried using textures that equated to the different values in his drawing.   To get a better idea of what's going on please click on each image. Here's something a little bit different for me.  I thought I would create a color collagraph version of Todd's black and white drawing done in 1992.  I tried using textures that equated to the different values in his drawing.  Anyway.  There are two more drawings to work from.  One I have created with two color variations and the other will be in the works when I find the time.  I especially love all the eyes in the drawings. Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker #1 - Collagraph of Small Male Woodpecker

A new addition to my bird series with attitude.  I haven't seen any of these small woodpeckers here in St. Louis, but it appears that it is possible. Apparently the red throat is the tell-tale sign that this is a male. As with my most recent Cardinal piece I printed four- to five-textured layers of color on the background.
